Knowing Jesus as the Word of God: An IntroductionHandbook 5: Article 40 - Making Full the Word of God

"...that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His person more strongly and more clearly]..."

Philippians 3:10 Amplified Bible

In the Beginning: The first appearance of the Word of God!

"...the worlds (Lit. ages) were prepared by the Word of God, so that what was seen was not made out of things made visible."

Hebrews 11:3

"Then God said, 'Let there be light'; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness."

Genesis 1:3, 4

In the Fullness of Time: His appearance in our world!

"But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of woman..."

Galatians 4:4

"In Him was life; and the life was the light of men... There was the true light which coming into the world enlightens every man."

John 1:4, 9

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory..."

John 1:14

John speaks concerning the Word of God coming into his everyday world:

"What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we beheld and our hands handled, concerning the Word of Life..."

1 John 1:1

But you and I have not seen with our eyes, nor beheld, nor have our hands touched the hem of His garment...

But Jesus prayed for us who would come to believe in Him through His disciple's word:

"As Thou didst send Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also be sanctified in truth. I do not ask in behalf of these alone, but for those who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one..."

John 17:18-21

He did not leave us as orphans:

"...I will come to you..."

John 14:18

"I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He shall glorify Me; for He shall take of Mine, and shall disclose it to you."

John 16:12-14

It is now our "fullness of time" to bear witness to Jesus, the Word of God, for our generation! May this be true of us:

"...for the Word of God has sounded forth from you... in every place your faith toward God has gone forth..."

1 Thessalonians 1:8
